| (November 15, 2010) Shreveport, LA: Synergy Technologies, Inc., the Shreveport, LA, based food processing bacterial intervention firm, announced the opening of a Technology and Solutions Center within the Memphis BioWorks® Foundation’s incubator. The new space, providing 2500 square feet of offices and BSL-1 microbiology laboratories, will further the product development and customer solutions efforts of the firm. It will house several members of senior management, the firm’s technical manager, consultants and technicians. According to Jason York, Vice President, “Our team continues to work toward developing innovative processing aid chemistries and applications in an effort to provide domestic protein providers with additional intervention methodologies to assure the integrity and safety of the food supply. The addition of this center, the labs and the ability to have our team based within the Memphis Bioworks Incubation Center represents a significant move forward for our firm. The assets and services that are afforded Synergy as a tenant of Memphis Bioworks will serve to propel Synergy’s continued growth.” The Memphis Bioworks Foundation, established in 2001 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3), is bringing together public, private, academic and government entities in a collaborative effort to change the Memphis bioscience landscape. Bioworks is leading city wide and regional initiatives to expand upon the community’s current bioscience niches and demonstrated areas of leadership to create an internationally recognized center for the development and commercialization of bioscience technology. Recently, Synergy launched the SYNERGIZE® product line. It is built around peracetic acid (PAA), an FDA approved oxidizer which breaks down readily to form acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, both safe and environmentally friendly residues. In addition, the firm filed a U.S. Patent application in May of 2010 to cover their “STACKED” program which holds promise to improve the level of efficacy while delivering the vital economics of use. The STACKED program provides the poultry industry with a patented chlorine free alternative for chiller systems, dip tanks and On Line Reprocessing (OLR), which is timely due to recent enacted export restrictions. The same chemistry has shown improved results in laboratory testing for red meat applications. Validation work is underway to further proof of concept in industrial applications working with specific client firms. Synergy Technologies, Inc. is a privately held specialty chemical firm located in Shreveport, LA with a concentration in food protection. The firm produces and markets a revolutionary line of processing aids and anti-microbial products that can be used to provide a safe, non-toxic and economical solution to fight harmful food borne pathogens such as Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria and Campylobacter. These products have been reviewed by both the US FDA and the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service, and subsequently obtained the necessary letters of “no objection” regarding their use for specific applications.
